Take Refuge in Him and Experience His Goodness

Take Refuge in Him and Experience His Goodness
"O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are those who take refuge in him." - Psalm 34:8

Today, the Scripture is inviting us to have a personal experience of God’s goodness. It moves beyond hearing about God to actively engaging with Him through trust and relationships.

The imagery of “taste and see” emphasizes an intimate, firsthand encounter with His grace and provision. Those who rely on Him find joy and safety, experiencing true fulfilment in His care.

It’s an encouragement to trust God fully and discover His goodness for ourselves.

Does it Pay to Take Refuge in God?

Yes, it truly pays to take refuge in God. Here’s why:

1. Peace Amid Chaos

When we seek refuge in God, we experience a serenity that is beyond comprehension (Philippians 4:7). His presence provides a haven from life's storms, comforting our emotions even when times are terrible.

2. Protection and Safety

God promises to protect and strengthen those who put their trust in Him. According to Psalm 91:2, "My refuge and fortress; my God, in whom I trust." Taking refuge in Him ensures our spiritual and emotional safety.

3. Unchanging Support

Unlike worldly shelters, which can fail, God is unchanging and unfailing. His love, constancy, and strength are consistent, providing permanent support in all circumstances (Isaiah 26:4).

4. Joy and Fulfillment

Psalm 34:8 states, "Happy are those who take refuge in him." This happiness stems from the great satisfaction and contentment of having a connection with God, knowing that He is always there and providing.

5. Victory Over Challenges

Refuge in God does not imply a lack of challenges but rather victory over them. With God as our sanctuary, we tackle obstacles with His power, knowledge, and guidance (Psalm 46:1).

6. Eternal Reward

Beyond temporal rewards, seeking refuge in God secures eternal life and the hope of eternal union with Him (John 10:28).

Taking refuge in God pays abundantly, offering protection, peace, joy, and the assurance of His constant presence in this life and beyond.
